Generosity to God

J.L. Kraft, head of the Kraft Cheese Corporation, who had given approximately 25% of his enormous income to Christian causes for many years, said, "The only investment I ever made which has paid consistently increasing dividends is the money I have given to the Lord."

J.D. Rockefeller said, "I never would have been able to tithe the first million dollars I ever made if I had not tithed my first salary, which was $1.50 per week."

The average church member contributes between 1.5% and 2.5% of his total income specifically to the Lord's work.

GOD’S PLAN TO FINANCE HIS KINGDOM IS NOT THROUGH ONE PERSON, BUT THROUGH A CORPORATE BODY CALLED THE “CHURCH”.

THE TRUTH IS THAT TRUSTWORTHINESS IS THE MARK OF THE TRUE GIVER.

1 Corinthians 4:2 says,  “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”

One of the best definitions of STEWARDSHIP was given by my former Pastor, Dr. Ed Lasko, Sr:“A GOD GIVEN TRUST FOR A LIMITED PERIOD OF TIME IN WHICH WE WILL BE JUDGED DETERMINING OUR REWARD IN THE MILLENIAL KINGDOM.”

As we discuss Generosity within the church, please let me leave you with 3 Biblical Principles that should guide our generosity:

  • PRINCIPLE #1:  HANDLE THE SMALL THINGS WITH THE SAME REGARD AS THE BIG THINGS.

Luke 16:10 10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

  • PRINCIPLE #2: SEE EVERYTHING IN LIFE AS SACRED

1 Corinthians 10:31 31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

  • PRINCIPLE #3:ETERNITY IS COUNTING ON OUR FAITHFUL INVESTMENTS.

Heaven’s promise for Earth’s investment is as follows:  “Malachi 3:10 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.”

THE TRUTH IS THAT YOU CANNOT OUTGIVE GOD.

THE HARDEST THING ABOUT A RELATIONSHIP  WITH JESUS IS NOT US GETTING HIM, IT IS ABOUT HIM GETTING US.

THE GREATEST MOTIVATION IN GIVING TO THE LORD CAN BE FOUND IN WHAT CHRIST HAS GIVEN FOR US THROUGH HIS LIFE ON CALVARY’S CROSS.

Join us this Sunday at Calvary as we continue the series, “A NEW YOU – PT. 6 –GENEROSITY TO GOD” preached by our Student Ministry Pastor Matt French.

I leave you with the words quoted often by Pastor Johnny Hunt as a requote from someone else, “We are never more like Jesus than when we give.”

REMEMBER, GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO WE AT CALVARY!!!!!
