A Gift for Jesus

“Christ First in Christmas”

AUTHOR UNKNOWN

As now we celebrate his Birth,

The coming of Christ to Earth,

May we, amid our Joyous Mirth,

KEEP CHRIST FIRST IN CHRISTMAS.

As chiming bells ring out their lay,

And hearts are merry in light array,

Remember it is His Birthday,

KEEP CHRIST FIRST IN CHRISTMAS.

Let’s sing him in carols sweet,

Let’s lay our best gifts at His feet,

And make the season’s joy complete,

KEEP CHRIST FIRST IN CHRISTMAS.

Matthew 2:11 (ESV)
11  And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

“POEM”

AUTHOR & TITLE UNKNOWN

In a rude stable cold,

The friendly beasts their stories told.

“I”, said the donkey, shaggy and brown,

Carried his mother up hill and down,

Carried hersafely to Bethlehem town.

“I”, said the cow all white and red,

Gave him my manger for His bed,

Gave him hay to pillow his head.

“I”,  said the sheep, with the curly horn,

Gave him wool for his blanket warm;

H wore my coat on Christmas morn.

“I”, said the camel, all yellow and black,

Over the desert, upon my back,

Brought him a gift in the wise man’s pack.

“I”, said the dove, “from the rafter high,

Cooed him to sleep, that he should not cry,

We cooed him sleep, my mate and I,”

“I”, said every beast, by some good spell

In the stable darkness, was able to tell

Of the gift he gave to Emmanuel.
